West Side Stories — Anne Finkelstein / Architectural Explorations

2009–present

West Side Stories is an ongoing project which began when the High Line opened in the summer of 2009. It is a series of digital photo-montages in a vertical format—26 inches wide by 50 inches high and also includes paintings on paper and board.

The series has expanded as development on the West Side has continued. It now includes The Whitney Museum, the Hudson Yards development and the Hudson Yards train station at 34th Street and 10th Avenue. I exhibited four photo-montages of the station as large format prints in an exhibit called The Subway Series at the World of McIntosh in Fall 2016. Some of these compositions were part of Transit Transformations, an installation at the NY Transit Museum in 2017.
