Chelsea Morning (1995–1997)

When I first moved to Chelsea in the early 90s I photographed many small industrial buildings on around 10th and 11th Avenues. This was long before those blocks were filled with museums and art galleries, and my photography trips felt a little dangerous and exciting, like a hunt. I made studies of individual images on paper and canvas, and combined them in a large composition on canvas, Chelsea Morning.
